In January 2011 private sting operations were performed at twelve Planned Parenthood clinics in six states and secret videos were made. In one of them, Kimberley (a PP health technician), explains how to get birth control and abortions for underage sex workers.

The videos were released in February by an anti-abortion group called Live Action. A man posing as a pimp asked about STD testing and once they got into a private room, he began asking questions – in confidence – about getting help for ‘his girls.’

Planned Parenthood staff are all too aware of the anti-abortion movement that constantly peppers the organization with whatever stings it can find on a daily basis. Kimberley said she was suspicious of who they were, but answered all their questions fully before calling the FBI upon the actors’ departure.

Jobs Were Lost Over This

She, along with technicians at the other clinics visited, was trying to do what she thought was right. But, when Planned Parenthood’s bigwigs saw the videos they immediately fired one New Jersey clinic manager, Amy Woodruff, for her seeming cooperation with the actors.

Even if Woodruff’s intent was to trick them into giving information by being cooperative, her response to the actors went against everything Planned Parenthood stands for and it was shown to the public.

Anyone watching those videos would believe Planned Parenthood is a help to sex trafficking schemes and not agents who work daily to protect people from STDs, unwanted pregnancy, birth control and sexual abuse. Now states are voting not to fund Planned Parenthood in eight states, so far, using these videos as part of their artillery.

It seems that one day you are bringing a child home from the hospital and the next you are trying to keep him or her from running down the hallway. Many parents find themselves unprepared for the tiny hands that pull things off of shelves or fling open cabinets. The best way to ensure a child’s safety is to baby proof your home before there seems to be a need for it.

Counter Tops

Place potentially harmful items, like hot coffee, as far back on the counter as possible. Scissors and other sharp objects should be kept out of reach and out of sight. Counter edge cushions can prevent head injuries. If you are renting a home or apartment with structural dangers, communicate with the HOA management to take care of hazards before your little one is walking.

Cabinets

Cabinet locks can prevent many injuries. It’s easy to take household cleaners for granted. To an adult, there is nothing special about a bottle of bathroom cleaner. But to a child, the sometimes colorful liquids remind them of their favorite juice, and before you know it, a child can be poisoned, burned, or blinded by these useful but deadly chemicals.

The Toilet

You would think that simply closing the bathroom door would be sufficient to keep shoes, toys, phones, and other things out of the toilet. But all it takes is for an unsuspecting parent to turn their back. Toilet locks keep the lid shut tight. This one gadget can save a parent from untold frustrations and dirty surprises.

Take the time to baby proof your home. You will be glad you did.

Organizations like Planned Parenthood have come under fire as being pro-abortion corporations. Indeed, many have balked at the fact that teenagers often do not even need a parents signature in order to get an abortion. Behind the rhetoric however is a real problem. Children very early on in teenage years are getting pregnant and then need to decide if they will become moms or terminate the pregnancy. Those looking to terminate the pregnancy will usually end up in small clinic for a day procedure. Here are a couple points in favor of keeping things the way they are and keeping abortion legal.

1.) Outlawing abortions could take the practice underground- No one like the idea of an abortion. Not the public as a whole and not the young women in stirrups about to get an abortion. But the fact remains there are a number of unwanted pregancies each year that require a solution. Closing abortion clinics would no doubt force the practice underground and increase the liklihood of things going wrong and the mom being hurt.

2.) A mother’s right to choose- The fact remains that there are many women who get pregnant and did not plan on those circumstances. It is a woman’s right to choose and control what happens to her body as well as to choose if she will be forced to raise a child when she knows she may not be competent and ready for the task. As individuals, it is important we be allowed freedoms over our body and not have decisions of this magnitude made without our input.

When it comes to family planning, there may be a lot more to consider than you might think. How many kids do you want? Will you need a bigger home to accommodate everyone? Will you need a better job? Maybe a second job?

The questions can be endless. While some families and pregnancies are planned, others may not be, and that’s okay, too. Babies are loved just as much when they’re a surprise than if they’re planned.

Whether the start of your family is planned or not, be aware that you do have resources. Planned Parenthood is one of the most helpful places to go to for information on family planning. You can get information on overall family planning, pregnancy advice regarding prenatal care and doctor appointments, and can even receive free birth control. Some people are hesitant to seek out these services, but they shouldn’t be. Planned Parenthood offers a wealth of information to make pregnancy and family planning easier to work through.

When it comes to children, everyone wants to make sure their children feel good about themselves. Something as simple as a new outfit can accomplish this, and LRG Clothing offers a wide variety of clothing for adults, as well as children. You’ll find everything from jeans and loungewear to sweaters and outerwear.

Starting a family can be a big undertaking, but with resources like Planned Parenthood and clothiers like LRG, you’ll have an easier time getting ready for when the children arrive. Remember, as a parent you can never seek out too much advice on family planning.

Childcare is a tricky thing to find. Not only are you trying to find the best possible childcare for your child, but you’re also trying to find one at an affordable price. You’d be shocked to hear just how much money childcare can cost a parent.

Childcare is extremely important, and each parent will ultimately have to find a center for their child to go to during working hours. Thanks to Canada 411, you can find a great childcare facility that’s affordable. What more could a parent ask for?

Finding an excellent childcare center is important for any parent. Using Canada 411 will not only let you search for childcare centers in your area, but you can also view the ratings for each facility.

It’s recommended to begin your search at least six months prior to your child’s first day. This is because you want time to visit multiple childcare centers to see which one is best for your kid. Once you’ve compiled a list of the top five childcare centers in your area, it’s important to contact them and ask for a tour.

When you take a tour of the place, be on the lookout for how clean it is and how the place looks overall. What’s the teacher-to-student ratio? If you can, speak with the parents who bring their kids there and ask for their opinions. They’ll offer their honest opinion on the facility. Finding a top quality facility isn’t difficult if you know what you’re looking for. You want the best care for your child.

Planned Parenthood is an ideal organization for those who need a bit of help in making those hard decisions. Often, having a child can be one of the best experiences a person can have. In other cases, though, it can be very untimely. What your personal beliefs are in having children, or the amount of control you should have over it, are important to explore. Then, reach out and get help and guidance if you need it.

Image via Wikipedia

What to Think About

Before having a child, consider all aspects of it, including the massive changes it will have on your life. Take a close look at yourself but also consider the following things.

Are you healthy enough to have children? Many people spend a great deal of time trying to conceive and find out that they are not healthy enough to do so. Get a physical from your doctor before you begin this process.

Learn about your ability to create a family. Bringing a child into this world is not as easy to just getting pregnant. You also have to be able to provide a healthy family for your child to prosper in. Learn how to have a strong family.

Pregnancy itself can change you, and your body. For this reason, take the steps necessary to learn about these changes. You may want to explore how those changes make you feel, too.

If you decide to have a child, realize that you will learn as you go. There is no guide that will give you all of the information you need for every situation that happens. However, most parents will learn to make the right decisions.

Every new mom loves to show off her baby. Halloween is one of the most fun experiences you can have with your children, and your baby shouldn’t be excluded from the fun. Baby costumes bring joy to everyone who sees them. With a little planning and imagination, you can easily create or purchase a costume that can be worn by future children or your friends’ children.

Pick a Costume That Can Be Recycled

Young parents are usually on a tight budget, so there’s no need to pay a large amount of money for your baby’s costume. The best thing to do is pick something that can be recycled. In other words, ask yourself if you’ll have more children. If the answer is “yes,” then pick a unisex outfit that can be handed down to the next child. In fact, you may want to check with the parents of older babies to see if they have something you can use. If you want to be unique, then there are a number of discount options for baby costumes. Look for coupons, discount websites, and promotions.

Baby Costume Suggestions

In recent years, some incredibly cute and funny little costumes have been designed for children. The pea pod is very popular for infants. Monkeys and skunks make cute outfits for children who are sitting up and crawling. Toddlers are good with sports outfits, little movie stars, and silly things like Wonder Bread, Peeps, or Hot Dogs. If you and your friends laugh, the child will love it and laugh, too. It can be a wonderful bonding experience for young parents and their new baby.

Family planning typically involves regulating the number of children in a family and their spacing by practicing contraception and other means of birth control. Family planning enables parents to freely and responsibly decide when and how many children they are going to have and to have available the information and the means to carry out their plan. It also enables parents to have available to them all the safe and effective means of contraception so that they can act according to their decisions. With this information, they can be aware of the costs of the various means of contraception, be more knowledgeable about those means and have greater support of their extended family members as well as potentially the wider community.

Because of contraceptive technology, couples are deciding to have children at younger and older ages and it is important that such decisions can be made freely knowing all the consequences both long and short-term for both the children and the parents. There still remain many women and families who want to control the number of children they have or space out their pregnancies but do not have the means or information to do so.

Family planning when done in a larger context can also be used to control population growth. Family planning services were first attempted with private groups but there was strong opposition to them. Margaret Sanger from New York City was a nurse who was able to establish the first birth control clinic in the United States in the early 1900s at a time when publishing and distributing information on contraception was illegal. Others such as Marie Stopes in England and Dhanvanthis Rama Rau in India followed suit with starting clinics for family planning, birth control and health care in their respective countries. Today, national polices have been established by many countries and the use of public family services is encouraged.

Planned Parenthood is a non-profit organization that provided information about reproductive health care, sex education and other general information to men, women and young people across the world. Planned Parenthood helps individuals make informed and individual decisions about sex, health and planning their families by promoting an approach to women’s health and well-being based on common sense and reality.

Planned Parenthood reaches out to the community by means of 85 affiliates throughout the United States which are governed locally and provide more than 820 health centers. The primary goal of these health centers is to provide primary care that is preventative in nature including promoting contraception to prevent unwanted pregnancies, testing and treatment to reduce the spread of diseases that are sexually transmitted and screening for cervical and other cancers. A trusting environment is established in which physicians, nurse practitioners and other staff care about their clients and take the time to speak with them about such health-related issues.

There is also an educational aspect to Planned Parenthood. The organization holds a wide variety of educational programs throughout the year that provide young people with honest information about sexuality and relationships. Programs are available in classrooms and information is posted online whose purpose is to reduce the high rates of teen pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases in the United States. Planned Parenthood hopes that by providing such information women, men, teenagers and families will be able to make knowledgeable decisions and have healthy reproductive and sexual lives.

Planned Parenthood also works with countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America, where often access to important information about reproductive and health care of a sexual nature is blocked, to overcome these obstacles and increase access to education about health care. The organization works with local leadership to develop health and education programs as well as legal, social and political improvements in nations worldwide. Planned Parenthood also works with the United States government to insure that the sexual health and well-being of families and individuals is improved around the world

Having a baby is an overwhelming thing. The idea of bringing human into your own life and being responsible for its well being is asking a lot. There are millions of kids born every day and they grow up with different results. The truth is that what might be scarier than simply teaching them right from wrong and making sure they become well adjusted adults is finding a way to pay for them.

The cost of a child is nothing to joke about. The cost starts from before they are even born. There is the expense of doctor’s appointments, pre-natal vitamins, and the excessive cost of the delivery itself. These things matter and they add up.

The cost of formula is another expense that is heavy in the early going. A can of formula, which might last a new born a little over a day, can be as costly as 20 dollars a can. Of course, the purchase is necessary and you must include it into your everyday cost.

At the same time, there might even be expenses that you don’t include in the cost. Perhaps the gas it takes to bring the baby to and from the monthly doctor’s appointments, or the cost to have them baptized, or the money it takes to have an account opened for college. Even the diaper rash cream can add up after a while.

The good news is that the government will give you some money off your taxes if you have a child. This is good tax news, as any money that can legally be shielded from the government is a good thing. There is a tax credit of over $3000. This is a relief for the parents who understand just what a huge expense having a child can be. Children are the greatest gift, but that doesn’t mean they don’t come at a cost. It’s important to catch all the breaks you can.

Adopting a child is as challenging as it is rewarding. This is especially true for older, adopted children who have often had to deal with moving from family to family before landing on their feet with parents who are in it for the long term.

If you are new to the adoptive experience, there are a few points to consider when taking an older adoptee under your wings. Of course, treating your adopted child as lovingly as you would your own child is crucial, as is giving them the tools they need to succeed. Below is a list of a few basic things that are important to do when you adopt an older child.

Make sure your child has the right kind of clothing that is suited for each season: winter clothes for winter, summer clothes for summer, etc. Shorts, jeans, light jackets, overcoats are all essentials. Companies like Rocawear and Levis provide some affordable and durable options for the adoptive parent.

Have a way for your child to get around. Buy him or her a bike or a bus pass. Establish boundaries and restrictions, but do so within reason and in consideration of your child’s needs. Giving them freedom communicates trust, and boundaries communicate care.

Come up with some good eating options. Learn what your child likes and doesn’t like to eat. Make them dishes they know and encourage them to try to new things. Nothing builds relationships like conversation shared over a hearty, happy meal.

Keep open lines of communication. The most important thing that parents can do for any child is to keep communication open. This might mean investing in a family cell phone plan so they can get in touch with you (and vice-versa) whenever necessary. It also means developing an environment of trust on both ends.

Everyone with children will tell you the challenge of parenting is worth the reward, not matter how old the child is.

It is ironic really, that a civilization as advanced and cultured as ours still hides from the subject of sexual health and birth control. Our children are becoming sexually active at a younger age and more and more are facing adult issues before they are truly ready to. Finding resources to assist with education and options is critical.

Planned Parenthood is just such an organization. It offers its clients information, assistance and the tools they need to practice safe sex. The organization does, in fact, offer help and assistance to its clients, but still, at least to some extent, it is still at the center of a great deal of controversy. There are organizations that oppose it and believe that the information and help it gives out is wrong.

Still, the rising rate of STD’s and teenage pregnancy tell us that something may be done. Planned Parenthood offers safe advice to its clients. Whether a teenager is interested in birth control options or an unwed mother needs help exploring their options, having a resource such as this available is an important part of any community.

Perhaps parents or schools should be the primary resource for sexual health information. Unfortunately, this doesn’t often happen. In a world where birth control is almost fool proof and scientific research has explained how each STD is transmitted and how to prevent it, there simply isn’t a reason to have rising unplanned pregnancies and higher than ever STD rates.

Until such time that these issues are handled completely by parents or schools for ALL children, Planned Parenthood is necessary. Some may view it as a necessary evil, but it is necessary. Your local Planned Parenthood office offers all the resources that are needed to practice safe sex including information on sexually transmitted diseases and even birth control.

Gift cards are a common gift idea for the holidays because they allow the gift recipient to choose what they really want to buy within reason. A gift card for a big box retailer opens up a wide variety of shopping opportunities for the gift recipient because they can apply the gift card to any purchase that they make as long as the gift card corresponds with the store in question. There is a way to take this gift idea to the next level, however, which is well worth your consideration.

The gift idea that I am talking about is prepaid credit cards. Are you aware of what these are? I’ll admit that I previously was unaware of the benefits of this type of gift card. These are branded with a Visa or MasterCard logo, rather than corresponding with a specific type of store. These cards allow you to put any amount of money on the card that you like, then to give it as a gift to the intended recipient. They can use that credit card like any ordinary credit or debit card in any store or online, which opens up their shopping possibilities significantly. If the retailer or service provider accepts debit and credit cards, then your gift will apply.

This is also a way to help someone out that is having financial difficulties because they can apply the money to paying bills, paying off debts or paying for emergency purchases like a car repair or a hospital bill. This makes prepared debit and credit cards even more advantageous as a gift alternative for someone that you care about. This is something that you should put some consideration into when you are choosing gift ideas for the people in your life, because a prepaid credit card is a gift that people can certainly appreciate receiving from you.

Margaret Sanger was born in 1879 to a very large family. Her mother had 18 pregnancies and 11 children, presumably because she had no way to access any sort of contraceptives. Sanger’s mother passed away at the young age of 48 from tuberculosis and cervical cancer. After nursing her mother through her illness, Margaret Sanger enrolled in nursing school, and later spent several years working among the poverty-stricken slums of New York City.

Deeply affected by her mother’s condition, Sanger was drawn to working with women in need. She found herself working with poor and immigrant women in 1912, and saw that because they had no way to prevent pregnancies, these women were constantly adding to their families and driving themselves deeper into poverty.

There were few health care options for women in those days. Even for women who afford to see doctors, it was illegal for the doctors to discuss or dispense contraceptives, which were considered obscene material. When a friend of Sanger’s died from a self-administered abortion, Sanger felt that something needed to be done to give women control over their own bodies.

She began publishing a newsletter advocating for women’s’ rights to obtain and use contraceptives, as well as several books on sexual health topics. She also traveled to Europe and Japan researching new contraceptive methods, and in 1916 opened the first birth control clinic in the United States. Following her arrest and release from jail, she devoted herself to changing the archaic laws that prohibited women from using birth control.

In 1921 she founded the American Birth Control League, which later became the Planned Parenthood Federation of America. After serving as their president from 1952 to 1959, she traveled throughout the United States establishing clinics and promoting the newly created birth control pill. Sanger died in 1966 after finally seeing many of the restrictive anti-contraceptive laws overturned by the Supreme Court of the United States.

After watching her mother suffer the consequences of almost constant pregnancy and caring for her in her final days, Margaret Sanger became a nurse and worked almost exclusively with low-income women. She was particularly sympathetic to women who were unable to obtain and use birth control and who therefore had no control over their bodies or their reproductive functions. She also saw firsthand the effects of illegal and self-induced abortions resulting from the inability to access contraceptives and the lack education on sexual matters.

Sanger had to resort to defying the laws of the time in order to help women access this most intimate and basic right. Shortly thereafter, she founded a national organization, the American Birth Control League, which was committed to not only providing access to birth control but also to fighting for reproductive freedom. Her organization later became the Planned Parenthood Federation.

Through her life, Sanger amassed millions of letters from women who needed birth control advice and shared their desperate stories. Many of these letters were complied into book form as a testament to the need for legal contraceptives and reproductive education.

Planned Parenthood is constantly fighting for women’s rights and continually challenging restrictions on reproductive rights and education. While various political and social groups attempt to eliminate reproductive freedom and to move backwards with education and gender equality, Planned Parenthood pursues legal and political channels to uphold these rights.

Planned Parenthood also challenges the validity of faulty or unscientific studies, and makes sure that women use legitimate study results in making their health choices. It is also one of the largest providers of sex education, and discourages the promotion of ineffective education programs hide or distort the truth.

Margaret Sanger’s legacy continues today as Planned Parenthood provides millions of women and men with the information and services she fought so hard to bring to them.

Planned Parenthood often serves as the only health resource for teens and women without access to gynecological care or birth contraceptives. For those seeking birth control for the first time, talking to someone about private information can be a scary experience.

First, remember that Planned Parenthood staff are passionate about what they do and the services they provide. They are skilled at putting the patient at ease and know that many women have never talked to anyone about sexual matters before. There is no need to be nervous in that regard.

A counselor will explain the clinic’s policies and payment options, which are usually based on sliding scale. They will then take your basic medical information and history. If you are seeking contraceptives, the practitioner will discuss your needs and lifestyle to help you decide on the most appropriate method.

Most initial visits include a video or presentation about Planned Parenthood, women’s health, and a demonstration pelvic exam. You may also need to provide a urine sample. The medical exam will consist of checking your blood pressure and heart rate, listening to your chest and lungs, feeling your neck to check your thyroid, a breast exam, pelvic exam and pap smear. If you will be getting a diaphragm, cervical cap or ring, she will check internally for the proper fit.

After the exam, the practitioner will give you instructions on your birth control method and schedule your follow up. The clinic will provide you with your pills or contraceptive devices; there is no need to go to a drugstore to have a prescription filled.

It is important to be honest during your visit. Drinking, smoking, drug use and your lifestyle can impact the effectiveness of certain birth control methods. Planned Parenthood is committed to privacy and confidentiality, so be sure you give accurate information in order to maintain your sexual health.

The popular series “Mad Men” offers an engaging look into our recent past. As we’re shown, back in the 60s expectant mothers thought nothing of smoking and drinking liquor while carrying a child. That’s not just a TV show, it was real. It wasn’t until conclusive medical evidence about prenatal care came along that new moms finally realized the danger they were putting their infants into. Pre-natal care is crucial for healthy moms, but for women trapped in the throes of drug addiction it is especially vital. The first important step is to get clean and kick the habit. Rehab-International.org can help you take that positive first step to insure that your baby is going to get a good start in life.

When a woman becomes pregnant, her baby is provided all the same nutrients that she takes in. If an OBGYN prescribes vitamin supplements, the baby will be getting that boost. If the expectant mom adds more fruits and veggies to her diet, the baby will benefit from all that healthy goodness. Sadly, the reverse is true. If the mom is smoking, the baby will suffer. And if the mom is taking any narcotic substance, once it enters her bloodstream it will be entering the baby’s as well. Do you really want that to be the first “gift” you give your child? Let Rehab-International.org counsel you on the best course of action if you find yourself pregnant and abusing drugs or alcohol.

You might think you’re not even close starting a family, so what’s the harm in having a little fun? Damage to the reproductive organs can build up with persistent use of drugs or alcohol. By the time you decide to start that family, those vital organs could already be harmed. Your child deserves the best and so do you. You both can benefit from a clean and sober life.

There is a common misperception that Planned Parenthood is simply a place where teenage girls can get free birth control. While it is often the only resource for women to obtain, Planned Parenthood is more than a dispensary for pills and condoms.

Although it was founded on the premise that women should have control over their reproductive health, Planned Parenthood provides many more valuable services to a wide range of people.

This century-old organization is one of the leaders in providing sexual health education and resources. Although many women first begin going there when they become sexually active, teens are only a percentage of their client base. Patients do not need to be sexually active to make use of their services, and do not even need to be in a relationship. Many women continue to use their health services throughout their lives.

Women of all ages use Planned Parenthood when they do not have access to a primary care physician or gynecologist. In addition to contraceptives, women may need pregnancy testing, testing for sexually transmitted diseases, cancer screenings or simply an annual pelvic exam. These women may be old or young, married or single, and even in long periods of abstinence. Some clinics provide prenatal care as well.

While Planned Parenthood is an important resource for sexually active teens, most of their patients are in their twenties and thirties. Not everyone is sexually active in their teenage years. Many women choose to wit until they are older. They may seek contraceptive advice before beginning sexual activity. Others may have had little or no sexual health education in their younger years

Women of all ages, sexually active or not, choose Planned Parenthood because it is easily accessible and affordable. The organization is committed to providing these services to everyone regardless of age, and provides many services beyond birth control education.

Planned Parenthood clinics provide a wide range of sexual health services in addition to birth control. The health care providers respect your beliefs, and if you are committed to abstinence or natural methods they will provide you with the most accurate and helpful information so that you can practice your choice safely.

Also, if you are not or do not intend to be sexually active, you will still find a supportive atmosphere. Women in lesbian relationships may not need contraceptive services, but many choose to utilize Planned Parenthood for their gynecological exams and health care.

They also offer educational resources and have a vast of educational material relating to sexual health, sexual orientation, reproductive rights and many other women’s issues.

Planned Parenthood teaches that women should be in charge of their bodies, and they are committed to making health services available to all women. It can even provide resources and referrals to rehabilitation services, counseling, nutritional advice and assistance in obtaining other social services. For the services that they do not provide, they are a trustworthy source of information on getting the help you need. They can also serve as a liaison for people who are too scared or confused to pursue these services on their own.

Planned Parenthood does believe in responsible sex and will provide birth control for sexually active people who need it. They also provide education and counseling on the risks of sexual activity and ways to prevent sexually transmitted diseases.

In addition to providing contraceptives and health screenings for women of all age, Planned Parenthood is a leader in the fight for preserving reproductive rights, and for the promotion of accurate and relevant sex education information. Through lobbying activities and public information campaigns, Planned Parenthood seeks to maintain the rights that women have achieved and to keep birth control easily available for everyone.

Being a sexually active teen is no longer anything to be surprised by. Sadly, being a sexually active teen is the norm in the world these days. Kids are having sex and being sexually active at a younger age and their exposure to sex topics are a big part of the reason. But there might be an even bigger reason why kids are having sex and getting pregnant these days. Too few parents are discussing family planning with their children. Part of this discussion involves sex, but parents need to talk about finding good Phoenix apartments since the new baby will need a home, paying the rent for Phoenix apartments, or paying for basic needs.

It might have to do with the involvement of the parents. These days, there more distance between parents and children, and this creates a communication barrier that makes education about these problems increasingly difficult.

Parents these days have a very tough job. There are many woman who are single mothers and there are many fathers who must work long hours to support for their families. This makes staying on top of what is going on in their kids life increasingly difficult. It’s also more difficult when kids are secretive about what is going on in their own life.

But this behavior doesn’t mean that it absolves parents from having to do their job when it comes to talking to their kids about sex. The truth is that parents must make it a priority to communicate all their feelings and concerns to their kids, even if their kids aren’t forthcoming with their own thoughts, fears, and concerns. When searching for Phoenix apartments, a renter wouldn’t refuse to ask a question because the seller isn’t offering up the information. It’s the whole reason to ask a question at all.

Parents must create an open dialogue with their children. If they cannot create the dialogue they need to, at least, let them know that it is wanted. Communicating with a child could prevent them from becoming sexually active before they are fully ready for it.

Preparing for the arrival of your family’s newest addition can be one of the most exciting times in life. Imagining what the baby will look like, how he or she will fit into your family, preparing the room and all of the cute bedding, and organizing clothes and hanging decorations are all fun tasks. No doubt you’ve already amassed a selection of items recommended by baby books and websites and are feeling confident about your selection of supplies. Now it’s time to make sure that those items fit into your home in such a way that you’ll be able to easily access what you need when you need it.

Consider this: once the baby arrives, you might be operating on less sleep than you’ve ever experienced in your life. Also consider that if you have others living with you, or in close proximity, as is usually the case in Los Angeles Apartments, you will want to be careful to keep noise levels at a minimum during mid-night feedings and diaper changes. Armed with these two things in mind, think about your home and how you would organize your new supplies in such a way as to give yourself the advantage in these situations.

A huge benefit is light sensing night-lights. Having these in bathrooms, hallways, the kitchen and the baby’s room minimizes or eliminates the need to turn on bright lights that might not only be too much for you and baby in the middle of the night, but would disturb other household members as well. Of course the main source of baby supplies will be in the baby’s room, but also consider keeping a basket of a few basic necessities in other areas as well. Especially burp cloths, blankets and extra diapers and wipes, as you never know when a small accident can escalate unless the required supplies can be reached immediately.

Learning to roll over, crawl, walk, speak, and even sleep through the night are all great ways to judge how well a baby’s progressing. If they’re on or ahead of the curve, all is well. If they’re behind, it’s important to determine why that might be the case. Don’t panic, though, if your little one doesn’t reach a milestone exactly on target. It’s possible that he or she is just fine, and simply not in a hurry. If you have concerns you should talk them over with your doctor, who can most likely put your mind at ease about any potential problems your little one might have.

Another great thing to do when your baby reaches a milestone is share that with family and friends. It’s a wonderful thing to tell grandparents, aunts, and uncles about, and it’s also nice to share with friends. If they have children, you can compare. If they don’t have children yet, it will help give them some idea of the joy they’ll find in their own kids when they come along. Sharing things with relatives and friends is easier with Canada 411, too, because it can help you find people who aren’t in the US, but who you still want to keep in touch with.

Be sure to take pictures of your little one, and video if you can. All of those little things that your baby does will be great to watch again when he or she is older. Children are wonderful additions to a marriage, but they can be stressful, too. By preserving all of those sweet things your baby is doing, you can remember them better and pull out the evidence of them during hard times. It’s also a great way to teach your child about development as he or she gets older and looks back at the pictures.

My wonderful daughter came home today and said that she needed to talk to me. I love that we have the kind of relationship where we can do that. We talk a lot and we often discuss things that are bothering her. Today she was worried about a friend of hers from school and wanted to know what I thought she should do. I know it is unusual for teens to talk to their mothers so much. Although, I do wonder sometimes if it just the media that makes it seem that way. Actually, I just maybe I want to take all the credit for this by being an awesome mom!

As a mom that works from home, I am often around for these talks. You see, I grew up in Las Vegas in a family of poker players and gamblers and even though my family lives elsewhere I continued this family tradition. My dad was big into handicapping horses and sporting events and he passed that on to me. So now, I spend much of my time placing wagers on sports betting sites and playing hands of poker on online poker websites. It is a different profession than many mothers but it gives me the freedom to spend time at home with my children.

Anyway, my daughter was talking to a friend at school who was worried about how she was going to pay for college now that her father had been laid off from work. She worried so much that it seemed to be affecting her school work and relationships with friends. We discussed how it was good that I worked for myself and how we had already investigated college grant money and financial aid. My daughter agreed that she should share this information with her friend. Understanding that there is help out there might help with her stress. I am so glad that my daughter and I talked and I was able to help her and her friend.

It is not easy being a great parent because you are needed to take great responsibility of all your actions efficiently. Being a good parent is tough and can also be little challenging sometimes because it needs a continual effort from you. Never try to shy away from your duties only because they are tough. If you are good at managing time, you can manage all your responsibilities with full efficiency and commitment. Remember, your kid always depends on you and you should make right choices for him/her, if you really want to make them a role model.

Parenting is tough but you can learn it slowly and steadily. Never give up advising your kid about different things. You are their learning source and you have complete authority to make them or spoil them.

Drinking and driving offenses are very strict in many states and can lead to disastrous results. There is a special offense known as DUI misdemeanor offense that impose charges on the guys or girls that are found involved in an accident that has happened just because they are drunk. Stop your kid from drinking while driving.

Sex is another major factor that spoils the society. It kills the time and energy of our teens and makes them distracted. You should talk openly to your kid about sex! He/she should know that serious actions can be taken by parents in case if they are found involved in any sexual activity.

Make your kids obedient and law abiding citizens. They should know the importance of following rules and regulations. A country can not survive if its citizens do not abide the laws. Breathalyzer tests are taken in case if anyone is involved in accident that has happened because of drunken rivers. If anyone refuse breathalyzer test strict actions are taken against him/her. You kids should know all these things and you as a parent can teach them effectively.

If you’re ready to start a family – or you want to add to the family you already have – one of the things you really need to consider is whether you can afford it. Even if you really love children, you probably don’t want to have them if you can’t pay for what they need in life and take care of them properly. That would be unfair to them, and also unfair to you to have to struggle and be stressed out over money all the time. The best way for you to figure out if you can afford a child (or another child) is to take a serious and realistic look at your finances.

For example, who does your 1040 tax preparation? He or she can’t advise you whether you should have children, but you can talk with that person about what you’re really making, how much you’re taking home, and if there are ways to lower your tax burden legally. You can also find out about tax breaks that you might be eligible for if you did have a child. Money shouldn’t be your sole determining factor, but it should be an important one.

Also, consider the size and quality of your home. Is it big enough for a child or more children? Is it safe, solid and appropriate for kids? Be honest when you look around. If there are repairs that need to be made, you may want to consider putting off having a child until you take care of any home problems. That way, you’ll be able to bring a little one into a very safe environment that you and your family can be happy with. Your health is another consideration, because you don’t want to have a baby if your body can’t take it. Check with your doctor before you decide to get pregnant.

Anyway you look at it, in spite of the massive amount of controversy that surrounds Planned Parenthood there is no denying that it makes a huge difference in the lives of many teenagers. It has become, in many cases, a safe haven for sexually active teenagers that are faced with an issue which make them feel helpless. Teenagers that feel they are utterly alone can turn to the organization for help with pregnancy, birth control and STD’s. Teenagers have access to education and guidance from trained professionals instead of their friends or peers.

Many parents are staunchly against their teenagers using the services offered by Planned Parenthood or similiar organizations. These parents believe that the organization focuses too much on safe sex and not enough on the concept of abstinence. It is often these same parents who discuss abstinence with their children without offering them information on the different forms of birth control or how to protect themselves from diseases.

Strangely enough, many of the teenagers who have used the services of a local Planned Parenthood say they felt more comfortable and were more open with their counselor than they could have been with a parent. The ability to freely ask questions and discuss options can be invaluable as teenagers learn to understand sexuality and safety.

The system has been so successful at lowering the number of teenage pregnancies that many schools are actually incorporating Planned Parenthood in one way or another. Some use their resources during sex ed classes while others allow Planned Parenthood staff members on campus to consul students.

For those that object to Planned Parenthood, you are right: abstinence is ideal. Sadly statistics show more teenagers than ever are sexually active. Our duties as parents and educators is to give our students all the information they need to practice safe sex.

Taking care of yourself takes on a lot of guises and is not just about your fitness and nutrition. Being mindful of your sexual health is an important way to take care of yourself and to take care of your community as a whole. Taking care to plan your family and to prevent disease when possible is part of being a responsible member of the community. There are numerous other ways to take care of yourself as well, and whether it’s taking the time to find discount car insurance or making sure that your level of debt isn’t too high, it’s important for everyone to remember that they are important and they are a part of the world as whole.

There are many ways that people can help others to remember how important they are as well, Advocating safe sexual practices is a useful way to keep these issues in the public consciousness, in addition to making an impact in a much more personal way. Talk to the people you know about safe sex and about protecting their own health, safety and well being. If you find that someone around you is in suffering from a high load of stress, take the time to talk to that person about self care. Turning to risky sexual practices is one cry for attention that can have long term consequences for more than just the person in pain. It can be devastating for entire families.

Family planning is another way to get involved on a local and personal level. Taking the time to plan your reproductive future is one of the best things you can do for your family and for your community. To truly take care of yourself, you need to have the confidence and self love to have a plan and to stay with it.

How much did your adopted child cost? If you have never been involved with adoption, you may not know this – but never ask this question of adoptive parents. For good adoptive parents, an adopted child is not a car or some new gadget that warrants asking costs about. There is no price, but only associated costs of travel, legal and medical costs etc., in adoption. You are not buying a child, but you may be required to pay for travel or other expenses. So, there’s really no answer to the question about the cost of an adoptive child.

Having cleared that, let’s not forget there really is quite a bit of expense in adopting a child. In domestic adoptions, the cost is lower, but there still may be legal fees, medical fees, housing restrictions and costs associated with it. There may also be a host of potential miscellany expenses like pets and pet insurance, college expenses and the like. In international adoptions, expenses can literally sky rocket. Depending on the country you are adopting from, there may be enormous legal fees, travel expenses, inoculation and associated medical costs or bureaucratic fees, which involve an amount of money given to facilitate the process of adoption.

International adoption may also have other kinds of costs. For a child transported thousands of miles and distances away from one culture to another, a number of transformations take place. Good adoptive parents should keep this in mind and try to make the cultural transition as less awkward as possible. To do this, one may have to bear expenses like putting your child up in special schools, staying in places least likely to shock them culturally, time with a psychologist on understanding your adopted child better, etc. If you are planning to adopt a child, these are costs you would budget for.

Many people today have decided to head to Planned Parenthood for their birth control options. For many, going to Planned Parenthood can help you save some money on your prescription birth control, over just going to your regular doctor. If you are trying to save up for something like designer jewelry, this could be an option for you.

You may be wondering what types of birth control options you can find at Planned Parenthood. Almost any type of birth control you may want is available. In fact, they may even have options that your doctor may not offer. Even if they have a smaller selection than your doctor, they still have more than enough options for many women.

If you are looking to go on the pill, there are different varieties that are offered. If you’re looking for a particular brand birth control pill, you’ll want to check and make sure that it is offered. If the specific type of pill that you want is not offered, you can discuss your other options with the nurse.

Another option for birth control, especially if you have had children before, is an IUD, or inter-uterine device. This is a small device that is put into your uterus that gives off a low dose of hormone that keeps you from getting pregnant. Generally, these IUDs will last for up to five years. If you decide before the five years are up that you want to get pregnant, you can just head to your doctor, or back to Planned Parenthood, and get the device removed.

No matter what form of birth control you’re interested in, you’ll want to talk to a nurse at Planned Parenthood or your normal doctor about the pros and cons of your choice. There are side effects with all drugs, and this includes birth control.

You’ve been wanting to improve your health for a while now, but you just can’t seem to find the time or the energy. Do you know that people who are more physically and mentally healthy actually have better sex lives? That’s probably a pretty good reason to get off the couch and start improving your health.

When you feel good about yourself and your appearance, you are much better equipped to feel better in your relationships and that includes your sex life. If you are exhausted or tired most of the time, that will effect your sexual energy in a negative way.

We all know that many of us find the road to getting a healthy body and mind is difficult. It is especially difficult if this goal involves starting to exercise, losing weight or reducing stress. All you have to do is grab your running shoes to get started! We know the rewards from exercise include the fact that you will feel and look better, both of which can only enhance romantic activities.

There is no proof that a good diet and sexual performance are linked; however a less than stellar diet can cause problems with your health that can affect your sex life in a negative way.

So how do you go about achieving more healthy lifestyles so you can enhance your romance and sex life? Simply eating a balanced diet and exercising each day is a simple road to follow. The two are basically the ying to each others yang - they work together in tandem.

Individuals who engage in regular exercise actually find that they have a high level of desire according to studies. These people exhibit high levels of confidence and often have a greater ability to achieve orgasm and greater satisfaction. Even a moderate level of daily exercise, say between 20 and 30 minutes per day, can help boost your sexual desire.

Planned Parenthood is a health and pregnancy resource center that provides information to women, not only for themselves, but for their babies as well. Anyone who has questions about sexual health, reproductive health, or having a baby can rely on Planned Parenthood for assistance and guidance. One of the most important questions that women often find themselves asking is whether or not they are ready to have a baby. If you become pregnant unexpectedly or if you are thinking about becoming pregnant intentionally, you need to consider what it means to have a child.

There are many costs when you first have a child, including medical bills during the pregnancy. You’ll also find yourself spending money as you prepare your home for the arrival of the baby. You will need to have baby furniture, bedding, baby clothing, food and diapers ready for when your baby is born. You should be healthy when you are pregnant, and so it’s important to think about and improve your overall health if you are thinking about having a baby. Are you healthy enough to bring a new life into the world? Are you ready for everything that it takes to give birth to and raise a child? You also have to think about who will care for your baby if you can’t provide full-time care yourself. Perhaps you have family or close friends who will help you. Maybe you’ll need to look at daycare and in-home care options.

There are definitely a lot of things that you have to think about when it comes to having a baby. You will need to make some pretty powerful decisions if you get pregnant. You are entitled and empowered to make the decisions regarding your pregnancy, and be sure to weigh all the options.

As the name implies, Planned Parenthood is often a resource for young adults who need help with sexual health issues, birth control, and other sex-related problems. What most people don’t acknowledge, though, is that Planned Parenthood does not actually help kids to plan to become parents: it is merely a resource for making informed personal decisions concerning one’s future, like, whether or not to become a parent at the age of 14.

People who go to Planned Parenthood are often embarrassed or worried about running into friends while they are there. In the unlikely case that your friends are there, too, you can count on them being equally embarrassed and private about the situation. More and more, teenagers are being open and even boastful about their sexual prowess and conquests. This new characteristic in the relationships of minors has lead to angry YouTube videos, libelous Facebook posts, and hateful, public messages. This aspect of sexual health is something that counselors are happy to help teenagers deal with, especially if the negative feedback is hurting them emotionally.

Sex is an activity meant for consenting adults. However, due to the popular production of media sources advertising sex for young people, it has become almost acceptable for kids as young as junior high to begin ‘fooling around.’ Sexual health information is now covered as early as 5th grade for children, because adults are worried about youthful encounters that could leave children perplexed and unprotected.

The best thing that parents and counselors can do for young adults who are experimenting is to give them accurate sexual health information, birth control, and a ride to the nearest Planned Parenthood. Issues should be discussed as openly as the kid’s age will allow, so that there are no understandings. The better informed kids are about aids and Hepatitis, the less likely they are to do anything rash and dangerous.

Everyone has to acknowledge that relationships are a vital aspect of sexual health and healthy lifestyles. Whether romantic of familial, casual or passing, relationships help us to identify who we are in contrast to others. Planned Parenthood is a great resource for teenagers who are in confusing situations, and who need support with difficult interpersonal decisions. Advice online ranges from determining if a given relationship is good for you, to figuring out if you are safe in a relationship, and relationship responsibilities.

The following is a list of common concerns that teenagers have about sexual health, and whom to consult:
Sex, birth control (Planned Parenthood)
Divorce, abuse (School counselor)
Rape, sexual abuse (Police, or Planned Parenthood)

Any issue can be resolved for teenagers if they are willing to address it with the correct authorities on the topic. Though everyone would like to be happy in relationships, and to build trust and intimacy, some people have a lot of questions and barriers that need to be addressed with therapists before they can safely open up to new partners. People must learn what makes any relationship unhealthy, or healthy, for them on a personal level. Something that could be construed as abuse to one person might be welcome by another, but in general, healthy and unhealthy relationships are easy to determine, even if ‘abuse’ is not.

Relationships come with certain obligations and responsibilities that partners must acknowledge if they are to be successful. Following through with commitments is an important aspect of interpersonal and sexual health. Though STDs and birth control are easy to research online, a true authority on sexual health, like Planned Parenthood or a trusted counselor, is necessary to determine relationship boundaries if a teenager is uncertain of his or her role. With a little luck and a lot of work, most relationships can work out and be happy, that is, if they have the initial spark!

For thousands of years, people all over the globe have been using contraceptives and birth control. The famed Marquis de Sade once wrote a love poem . . . to his lamb intestine condom. Women in ancient times were infamous for carrying on affairs while their husbands were away, but only if they were already pregnant by their husbands. Stories and lores of various creams and leaves that could prevent pregnancy, and the types of kissing that were thought to produce it, have colored literature for millennia.

Currently, less colorful, but much more effective methods, are being used. Planned Parenthood is an excellent source of information on birth control, especially for teens who need assistance in choosing an appropriate medication. As for contraceptives, there are also links on Planned Parenthood that contain reliable information about sexual health, condoms, and alternative contraceptives. Search online for Planned Parenthood/sexual health information and you will discover endless links of researched and tried information, as well as live chats with qualified counselors for teenagers.

Planned Parenthood advises people to research every method of contraceptive, and every kind of birth control, before making a selection. The method that is easiest for you is the one you are most likely to use consistently. Because sexual health is important to Planned Parenthood, contraceptives and birth control are made available for little or no money to teens who have no resources. This means that no one ever has to get pregnant due to a lack of funding for protection.

From fertility awareness and cycle planning, to birth control shots, vaginal rings, and patches, methods of birth control other than the traditional pill are readily available for female sexual health and protection. Other, less popular methods of birth control at Planned Parenthood include the sponge, IUD, outer course, spermicide, withdrawal, and permanent sterilization.

Planned Parenthood offers medical services to some of the most disadvantaged people in society. Looking at the organization from this standpoint, it is difficult to understand the amount of opposition to the organization. Until the word abortion is brought up.

Planned Parenthood was a trailblazer. The organization began as the American Birth Control League and can trace its origins to a clinic founded by Margaret Sanger in 1916. Women did not even have the right to vote at that time. Since women did not enjoy the full privilege of citizenship it is not surprising that the federal government did not recognize a woman’s reproductive rights.

Advocating change put Planned Parenthood into the crosshairs of conservative politicians and religious organizations. Birth control remains taboo in the eyes of the Catholic Church, and even though Protestants and Catholics remained divided on many issues, a hatred of abortion and Planned Parenthood is not one of them.

The anti-abortion movement can trace its roots to religious origins. When religion mixes with extremism the results often become deadly. Planned Parenthood clinics have been targeted by pipe bombs, and doctors that perform abortions have been murdered by assassins.

Once religion becomes part of a debate facts no longer matter to some. It is doesn’t take studying morality in an online masters program to see the contradiction of using murder to prevent abortion.

While the abortion debate cannot be settled by fact alone, researchers have found that there are social benefits to legal abortion. The popular book “Freakonomics” discussed studies that showed a decrease in crime rates in societies that have legalized abortion. Legal abortion also prevents the practice of women seeking illegal abortions in unsafe or unsanitary conditions. Antiabortion advocates could argue that these benefits are outweighed by ending the lives of fetus. What cannot be debated is that the use of contraception decreases the amount of unwanted pregnancies.

A new, trendy version of the web site Spiderbytes.ca has recently been published to assist teenagers in Toronto with their sexual health. This place for teens to have a voice encourages them to create “sexual spiderwebs.” With the teen in the center, and all of the various pros and cons about having sex webbing out from the center. Spiderbytes would like to make each teen his or her own “spider” so that he or she feels capable and ready to make informed decisions, free from peer pressure.

Sexual health experts compiled various data for Toronto teens, including information on sex, health, sexuality, relationships, and even puberty. Much hipper than the US version of Planned Parenthood, Spiderbytes feels like it is geared toward teens, and not talking at teens. New images, videos, and discussions have be added to the new site, for the convenience of their teen audience. The volunteers who came together to create the videos did so in the hopes of helping Toronto teens to have great sexual health and the ability to make informed decisions.

From a design perspective, the site does an excellent job of conveying the information that they intend to convey. The layout is such that visitors clearly understand that the site is meant for teens sexual health. Also, the color scheme, photos, videos, and typography are all inviting for the appropriate age group. This Toronto-Planned Parenthood did a phenomenal job of inviting young people in the area to step-up and take accountability for their own sexual health at the Toronto Planned Parenthood.

Adults who are impressed by this movement can volunteer at the center, or assist the center through donations and word of mouth. Volunteers may also be needed for additional videos in the future. Luckily, Spiderbytes has a solid foundation of volunteers already, and every intention of growing for the future.

Regional affiliates govern and guide local branches of Planned Parenthood, though their central offices are located in New York City and in The District of Washington. In the United States, there are currently approximately 863 health and education centers of Planned Parenthood. Services provided to community members differ depending upon the region, as necessary, though they all strive to support the needs of their guests.

In Washington, there is a program for women who live below the national poverty line. In this program, the women receive free annual check-ups and also a year’s supply of birth control pills. In other states, like Delaware, coaches are available to educate the public on things like vitamins and Medicaid forms and procedures. There are even those locations that do teach and train doctors on how to give abortions in the safest possible way, in those regions where hospitals and medical schools forbid the lessons.

Most patients, statistically, go to Planned Parenthood for contraceptives and sexual health information. Annually, the 863 branches typically see more than 3.1 million visitors! The morning after pill, as it is commonly known, is available to people for emergency contraception. This is a program that could save the government a lot of money, as the cost of contraceptives is far less expensive than the cost of children born onto the welfare system.

Another reason why people visit Planned Parenthood is to be tested and treated for sexually transmitted diseases and also, infections. This accounts annually for 29 percent of the people who go to Planned Parenthood. Along those lines, pregnancy tests are also popular, and sometimes abortion services. Though only one percent of the business at Planned Parenthood, they do offer adoption placement services and referrals to adoption agencies. Teenwire.com helps Planned Parenthood visitors via the internet, for greater anonymity. There are so many services at Planned Parenthood, that teens should feel well supported concerning their sexual health and education.

Even today, sexual health is a topic that is danced around in many schools without ever being directly addressed. Many educators are uncomfortable with the subject, and perhaps worse, many do not have current information about the latest developments in sexual health. Of course, children do need to be educated about sexual health. What are some good ways for educators to do this? One way is to utilize the Internet. Most kids and adults are web-savvy enough. People use the internet on a daily basis – shopping for deals on sites like Offers.com, getting their news from CNN, and checking their email. What if educators could use the Internet to help teach kids about sexual health? Here are some thoughts on how this might work.

Planned Parenthood Online

Though many parents might hesitate at the thought of sending their kids into a Planned Parenthood office for a class, they would probably be more open to their children taking the class online. Companies all over the world use online classes to save money and to educate their employees anytime, anywhere. Why not set up a program where students could complete sexual health classes online? Planned Parenthood could design the course material, then it would just be up to teachers to ensure that students completed and passed the classes. This method would ensure that the children were getting the most current information. Teachers wouldn’t have to worry about embarrassment or about staying up-to-date, and kids could use their computer skills. Instituting such a program would require an initial investment of time and money, but in the long run, think about how much money it would save our society. For one, teenage pregnancy rates would be lowered, and this benefit alone would make the program worthwhile.

While it is highly encouraged that people abstain from ignorance and find themselves information and educational resources about sexual health, it is not considered ignorant to abstain. Whichever method of contraceptive (including a metaphorical chastity belt) is best for you is the one that Planned Parenthood, school counselors, and true friends would recommend. When you have good resources, you are free to make your mind up to use birth control, condoms, spermicide, implants, or abstinence. The primary responsibility of a person who is becoming sexual and curious is to obtain a sound and accurate educational background about the risks involved in sexual activity. Your sexual health, and your life, may be at stake.

Planned Parenthood is a great resource, both online and in their local clinics, for teenagers who have questions. Information in the form of videos, brochures, books, counselors, and nurses are all available for the well being of young people. Contrary to what you may have read or heard, Planned Parenthood is really just trying to help teens think freely and be responsible, not to influence anyone or anything. In fact, Planned Parenthood advocates for independent choice making and fights against peer pressure and coercion. If you or your friends are being coerced into a decision that may not be appropriate, you should consult a school counselor, teacher, or another authority figure who can help you.

Sex, birth control, and Planned Parenthood are all topics that can be discussed in peer groups, too. Teenagers often only discuss the shocking or funny aspects of sexual health, but most people are open minded enough to discuss the details and information as well if interest is expressed. Try it! Ask your friends how they feel about the issues that are bothering you, and chances are, they are experiencing similar issues, or they have another issue that is just as complex. Relying on our friends and trusted authority figures is the best method of turning ignorance into action.

Abortion is a heavily debated issue within America. However, a woman’s right to choose for herself is a right that has been fought for in courts for many years. Planned Parenthood clinics are one of few locations where women can obtain an elective abortion. In many cases, a woman who chooses abortion will go to any measures necessary to make it happen. More than 30% of American women have had an abortion by the time they are 45 years old. However, offering this procedure in a medical clinic is a much safer option for women who want to have an abortion. It is performed by a trained physician, and can protect the woman’s ability to conceive a baby in the future. Having an abortion in this setting can also help to educate women about birth control options to avoid further unwanted pregnancies, since the clinic offers a wide range of contraception and counseling. The clinics follow all state laws regarding abortion, including age limitations and required parental consent. Some women also must have an abortion for medical reasons, such as the baby could damage the mother’s health or potentially be fatal. Whatever the reason for the abortion, Planned Parenthood clinics can help women make the decision.

Many Planned Parenthood clinics provide education about the process, and offer multiple ways to have the abortion. Women have the option of a medication abortion or procedure, and a staff member will help determine which choice is best for each individual. Some clinics also will provide a free ultrasound to mothers who desire this option. The clinics also have on-staff counselors who help women understand all choices available, and what will be involved in each. Offering abortions in Planned Parenthood clinics gives women a safe place to choose abortion, and continues to fight for a woman’s right to choose what is best for her situation and her body.

Many couples encounter problems with their relationships on a daily basis. Some do not know what is okay when dealing with relationship troubles, such as those involved in abusive relationships. Some Planned Parenthood clinics offer relationship counseling for individuals or couples who need guidance from a trained professional. There are many ways people can be hurt in relationships; emotional, verbal, sexual, and physical abuse are more common in many relationships and should never be tolerated. However, some do not understand that what they are experiencing is classified as abuse. Counselors at Planned Parenthood clinics can help individuals understand what constitutes abuse.

If a person at any point feels that they are being abused in any way by their partner, they should not question this instinct. They should instead immediately get themselves (and children, if they are around) into a safe environment, such as a friend or family member’s home, hospital, a center for abused women and children, or a Planned Parenthood clinic. Staff members can help these individuals to discuss the situation and get any necessary treatment. For example, if a person is sexually abused, they may need to be physically examined to remove DNA from their abuser to help protect them in the future, as well as be tested for STDs and pregnancy. No matter what type of abuse is occurring in a relationship, a zero tolerance policy should always exist and no one should have to live with this kind of pain and suffering. There is always a safe place to turn, and a partner who is abusive will almost never change. Individuals who are involved in an abusive relationship deserve better, even if they do not agree, and every person deserves emotional and physical safety. Planned Parenthood staff members are trained to handle these situations, and can help to remove a person from a dangerous situation and find a safe place for them to be away from the abuser.

For many parents, the discussion of contraception, pregnancy, disease, or other topics related to sex can be an uncomfortable one. Many parents end up simply turning a blind eye to the behaviors of their children, just to avoid talking about it. However, the first step to safe sex and the health of children must be taken in the home. Children and teenagers should be taught that there will be consequences to their actions of having unsafe sex, especially if it is with multiple partners. Planned Parenthood clinics and their website have many tools available for parents to aid them in having this difficult conversation. A free, step-by-step tutorial is available online for parents emphasizing the best way to start the discussion, what specific points are the most necessary to emphasize, and when is the best time for children to learn this information. For example, the tutorial explains ways to lead into the topic, such as watching a favorite television program where a character begins puberty, or pointing a friend or family member who is pregnant and discussing how it happens. The website also features books and magazine articles, written by child psychologists and sex experts, that can be used by parents to best explain these important matters in frank and serious ways.

Planned Parenthood clinics also have counselors available to parents to help them through the conversations with their children. Additionally, some clinics offer group classes which parents and children can attend together to have questions answered in a comfortable and non-threatening setting. Without this crucial knowledge, children and teenagers may not ever learn the potential implications of having unprotected sex. Even parents who try to simply teach abstinence only may be surprised to find that their children are still engaging in unprotected sex. All parents should emphasize that unwanted pregnancy and many diseases can result from sex, and should offer the tools necessary to prevent their children from being unsafe

Many teenagers have a lot of questions about sex, but don’t know who to turn to for honest and unbiased answers. If they don’t feel comfortable talking to their parents or other family members, or feel awkward discussing the matters with a health teacher or counselor, they may end up engaging in behaviors without understanding what may result. Planned Parenthood is a great resource for teenagers in this situation. They have information about hundreds of health topics available on the website, as well as counselors and staff members within the clinics who are trained in answering questions on any health-related topic. The website is a great place to turn first because it lists topics alphabetically in great detail, as well as commonly asked questions and answers. It is a very non-threatening way for teens to get more information, since it is completely private and doesn’t even require an account to access the resources. Most of the information presented is also done in a way that is easier for teens to understand and relate to, so they don’t feel like they are talking to a stuffy older person who doesn’t understand their situation.

For a more one-on-one experience, or for questions that are not answered on the Planned Parenthood website, teens can visit a clinic where someone on staff can discuss more personal matters privately and confidentially. Most clinics do not require parental consent, where state law allows, for counseling and contraception, so teens do not have to worry about bringing a parent or getting a lecture. While the clinic policy does encourage honesty between parents and teens, their confidentiality policy protects the information discussed and will not allow anything to be released without the consent of the patient. Planned Parenthood is a great resource for teens to get straightforward answers to difficult questions in a very comfortable and open-minded setting.

Some individuals do not desire to ever have children, or are done with that stage in their life and want a way to remove the uncertainty without having to take a daily pill or use other forms of contraception. Permanent sterilization is the best way for this to occur. Planned Parenthood clinics offer sterilization procedures to both men and women, as well as counseling and lengthy discussion to make sure the patients know exactly what they are getting into and the permanence of this choice. A staff member will discuss the process with the patient, which for women involves blocking or sealing the fallopian tubes, and for men involves severing the vas deferens and then sealing the ends so that sperm cannot escape. Some men think that a vasectomy is reversible, but the process is painful and meant to be permanent. The procedure for both men and women is surgical, and is usually performed as outpatient so patients can return home the same day. They are usually told to take it easy for a few days, since the incision site will be sore. For men, the failure rate is about 1 in 2000, while for women the failure rate is closer to 1 in 300.

Some Planned Parenthood clinics do offer these procedures, but even the ones that don’t will still offer information and counseling. One thing that patients who choose this method of contraception must remember is that they will not be protected in any way against STDs. Unless both partners have been tested for disease and are completely monogamous, individuals should still use a condom for every sexual encounter to ensure complete protection and safety. Permanent sterilization is a way for both men and women who do not desire to ever conceive children to eliminate the worry of an unwanted pregnancy.

As the President of the United States changes, many changes also occur with public education programs and government funding. When George W. Bush was president, he instated a public education health program that discussed abstinence only, instead of informing high school students of the risks involved with having unprotected sex. Instead of teaching about forms of contraception available, how to avoid unwanted pregnancy, and the necessary steps to protect themselves from sexually transmitted diseases, the teachers were forced to promote abstinence only. This is simply unrealistic, and Planned Parenthood, along with many other health organizations, took a stand against this policy.

Planned Parenthood Federation of America helped to develop a more realistic approach to sex education, performing surveys in schools across the country and compiling documents designed to inform and educate high school students about how to protect themselves when engaging in sexual activity. In the surveys, it was determined that teaching abstinence-only sex education does not decrease the number of people who are having sex; instead it just allows uninformed individuals to engage in sexual activity that can lead to sexually transmitted diseases or unwanted pregnancy. Neither program actually decreases the number of students who are engaging in sexual activity. Instead, when students are taught the risks involved in having sex, they are more likely to use protection and take precautions against unwanted risks, such as disease or pregnancy, since they are more aware and understand what could happen if they have unprotected sex. Planned Parenthood clinics also offer comprehensive sex education to individuals, since they may not be getting the necessary information anywhere else. Teaching sex education in schools is crucial to prevent the continued spread of sexually transmitted disease, and is an issue that Planned Parenthood will continue to fight until comprehensive sex education is taught in schools throughout America.

Many couples are careful and use protection when they have sex. However, in some instances birth control can fail or a condom can break. Sometimes accidental unprotected sex happens unintentionally for a variety of reasons. Additionally, some women are victims of rape and do not want a pregnancy to result. For these instances, emergency contraception is a great resource, and another service offered at Planned Parenthood clinics.

Emergency contraception, also known as the Morning After Pill, can help to prevent pregnancy if taken between one and five days after having unprotected sex. It is offered in Planned Parenthood clinics to women 17 years of age and older. If someone younger needs emergency contraception, they must go to their physician or other health center, and will often have to have parental consent. Basically the pill works by hormones which prevent the woman’s ovaries from releasing an egg. Additionally, it helps to thicken the mucus from the cervix which blocks sperm from joining with an egg. The pill also can thin the uterus lining, which could prevent an egg from attaching to the uterus. The sooner the pill is taken after unprotected intercourse, the more effective the pill will be. However, contrary to common belief, this pill does not cause an abortion; it will not terminate an existing pregnancy. It will only help in preventing a pregnancy if taken properly. The pill should not be used as regular birth control; there are many options for contraception available through Planned Parenthood clinics. The cost of emergency contraception pills can vary, usually ranging from $10-$70. Some clinics also provide certain intrauterine devices, which are believed to block pregnancy from occurring if placed in the woman within five days of unprotected sex. Some side effects are present in women who have taken the emergency contraception pill, including nausea and vomiting, cramping, and irregular bleeding.

With so many sexually transmitted diseases out there, it can be scary to even consider engaging in sexual activity. However, there are steps that can be taken to prevent certain diseases from being spread. Vaccination is one way to help prevent contracting human papillomavirus (HPV) as well as hepatitis. HPV is an infection that can affect the vagina, vulva, cervix, scrotum, anus, and penis. It can also lead to cervical cancer and cause genital warts. The vaccination for HPV is called Gardasil, and is given over a series of three injections. It helps to protect against types 16 and 18 of HPV, which are the most common strains and cause 70% of cervical cancer. It also protects against types 6 and 11, which cause 90% of genital warts. The vaccine has been tested and proven to be safe; the side effects are generally mild and can include swelling and bruising at the injection site, dizziness, nausea and vomiting, and low fever. Planned Parenthood clinics offer the vaccine, and recommend it for females beginning at age 11. It can also be given to men, although its effectiveness for males is not widely known.

A vaccine can also be administered to protect against hepatitis B, which is given over three or four injections. Hepatitis B is a disease that affects the liver; short-term effects of the illness are fatigue, muscle and joint pain, gastrointestinal distress, and jaundice, while long term, the illness can cause cirrhosis of the liver as well as liver cancer, both of which can lead to death. It is passed through blood or other body fluids from an infected person, so it can be contracted through unprotected sexual encounters. Vaccination is an important step in limiting the spread of sexually transmitted diseases, and Planned Parenthood clinics offer these vaccinations to help protect individuals from being infected.

Home accidents account for over thirty percent of cases seen in most emergency rooms. Most home accidents involve falling down stairs or incidences with furniture. One of the most frequently occurring household accidents are situations that happen in the kitchen including grease fires, knife cuts, spills and falls on liquids in the floor and stove or ovens that are left on absentmindedly.

To decrease the likelihood of kitchen accidents, there are several things you can do to avoid problems in the kitchen and to practice kitchen safety:

1. Always monitor items that are on the stove. Never leave items cooking unattended, not even in the microwave. Set a timer to help you remember how long something has been cooking and check the temperature on the item as often as possible. It only takes a few seconds for a fire to blaze and get out of control.

2. Clean and store knives and sharp objects immediately after using them. This reduces chances of accidental cuts and the sharp objects falling onto the floor.

3. Never pour hot liquids, including oil, down the kitchen drain. Wait for the liquids to cool first before discarding them. The steam from hot water and hot oils can cause second degree burns on the body.

4. Keep a fire extinguisher and a first aid kit in the kitchen for emergency use. Make sure the fire extinguisher is within reach of but not too close to the stove area. The first aid kit should contain everything needed to take care of minor scrapes and burns like small cuts and bruises. Stock the kit with gauze, band-aids, anti-bacterial ointment and alcohol swabs. Go to the emergency room for any accidents that cannot be controlled using items in the first aid kit.

5. Taking items out of a hot stove should be done slowly and carefully. Decrease burns by using oven mitts and pot-holders to handle hot items. Make sure the material is thick and made for kitchen use.

It is also helpful to keep a short list of these safety tips in your kitchen to refer to on occasion. These tips can help you eliminate kitchen accidents and reduce hospital emergency visits.

Getting a mortgage has gotten more difficult since the housing bubble burst and lenders had to tighten up their credit requirements. That doesn’t mean that you can’t get a mortgage, though, because there are still plenty of options. If you have good credit it’s easier to get a mortgage, but even people with bad credit can have some success if they have a big down payment and don’t have a lot of other debt. Another way a person can get a mortgage is through an equity home mortgage, which is like a home equity line of credit or second mortgage.

People who get these kinds of mortgages generally do so because they need to borrow against their house to pay other bills or to make improvements. These improvements could be anything from upgrades in the kitchen to adding a porch or even another room. No matter what they want to do with the money, they need to have enough equity in their house to get this kind of mortgage. If there’s no equity, they can’t get the loan. The bank would be taking too much of a risk by loaning against the house if the value of the house wasn’t enough to sustain that loan.

Just like a first mortgage, how much is loaned must be based on the value of the structure the loan is being made against. Anyone who’s ever taken out this type of equity line of credit knows that some banks are more than happy to loan money that way and other banks are very uncomfortable with it. There are also higher interest rates for an equity mortgage on your home, because the loan is placed in the second position if the home has to be sold at a loss or foreclosed on. That means there’s more of a risk, so the higher interest rate is required.

At that time, women could not receive birth control because they had virtually no rights; they couldn’t even have their own bank accounts or vote. There was also a series of laws passed in the late 1800s that stated that family planning was obscene. However, Sanger’s own mother had 11 children and died at 40 years old. She also worked as a nurse, so she worked directly with women who were suffering the health effects of being unable to use birth control. When the first clinic opened, women would line up outside, sometimes for hours just to obtain contraception. Sanger dealt with the legal backlash, including police raids, but continued with her pursuits to offer these necessary services to women.

In 1936, 18 years after the first clinic opened, Sanger was arrested for obtaining contraceptive products illegally. However, the judge on the case reviewed the data and ruled that the benefits of contraception were helping to avoid unwanted pregnancy as well as protect women’s health. A year later, the American Medical Association began to recognize contraception as a crucial part of health care, and women were then able to receive birth control without worry of legal repercussions. In the 1960s, with help from government funding, Planned Parenthood played a key role in the creation of intrauterine devices and the birth control pill, both of which are widely used for contraception by women. In fact, just four years after its creation, 25% of married women under age 45 had used the birth control pill to assist in family planning. Planned Parenthood was one of the first voices in women’s sexual and health rights, and continued to offer services to women that many physicians would not.

Planned Parenthood clinics offer testing services for an array of sexually transmitted diseases. While many do not want to face this growing problem, it simply must be realized that more and more individuals are engaging in unprotected sex and the diseases are spreading faster than ever. Some sexually transmitted diseases don’t even have symptoms, so some people will never know they have one and may pass the disease to partners unknowingly. Routine testing is necessary to diagnose and treat these diseases, so that spreading can be controlled. When a patient visits a Planned Parenthood clinic for any reason, a panel of tests can be administered to check for most of the sexually transmitted diseases. However, patients must ask for these tests; they will not be performed unless specifically requested. Anyone who engages in unprotected sex should be tested frequently, especially before having sex with a new partner. Based on the type of sexual acts, a physician or health care provider can help determine which diseases the patient would be at risk for, and which tests should be performed.
Once a test comes back positive, the staff at Planned Parenthood clinics can provide treatment and counseling, as well as discuss safer sex practices in order to avoid similar problems in the future. Many sexually transmitted diseases are completely treatable through antibiotics, and can be cleared up within just a few days or weeks. Routine testing can help people to catch the diseases early, before further damage is caused to their bodies. For example, untreated chlamydia can cause pelvic inflammatory disease in women, which can in turn affect a woman’s ability to conceive a child. The clinics also offer an array of contraception designed at helping to prevent disease. However, some sexually transmitted diseases can be contracted even through safe sex practices, so individuals should be tested frequently even if using condoms.

Some people may think that the services offered at Planned Parenthood can only benefit women; however this is simply not true. Many clinics offer a full range of services for men’s health, including basic sexual health checkups for reproductive or other problems, as well as physical examinations. Routine checkups are one of the best ways to prevent disease, or catch symptoms early before conditions worsen and become dangerous or untreatable. Physicians within the clinic are trained in an array of problems and can give treatment to protect the overall health of men. The clinics also offer contraception and cancer screenings for testicular and prostate cancer. Many men do not think cancer can affect them, especially if they are young. However, both testicular and prostate cancer can strike men of any age, and routine screenings and self-examination are the only ways to catch warning signs early. Some Planned Parenthood clinics also give treatment for sexual problems including premature ejaculation, erectile dysfunction, and sexually transmitted diseases. Not only can the physicians provide treatment, but there are trained counselors on staff who can offer education and discuss the problems with men who might be embarrassed by their conditions. Since these counselors are trained in sexual problems, they are able to provide information and often can simply offer a listening ear. Many clinics also are able to provide permanent sterilization procedures, such as vasectomy, to men who are done having children and are interested in this option of contraception.

Many Planned Parenthood clinics can bill private health insurance plans, or state or federal programs. Additionally, some clinics are now able to offer discounted services based on income, or assist patients in applying for Medicaid or similar state-funded health insurance programs to those who will qualify. This allows all individuals, regardless of income or financial situation to receive quality sexual healthcare, as well as contraception to protect themselves and others from spreading sexually transmitted disease or causing unwanted pregnancy.

As a good parent, you planned for years before having kids. You heeded the advice of Planned Parenthood, but you are now preparing for your kids’ future. So you want to invest in a 401(k) or IRA. There are so many elements to investing that it’s hard to keep them all straight. If you’re looking to keep your investments on the safe side, then you should look into bonds. Many consider bonds one of the safest investments available when it comes to your portfolio. While diversification is important, and you should also invest some money in stocks, the more bonds you invest in the safer your money will likely be in a struggling economy.

First, consider investing in several different bonds through several different issues. This is the most important element in protecting your investment. If you were to put all of your money into one bond from one issuer, then you run a much higher risk of losing your money if that issuer cannot meet its obligations. Spreading your money over several issuers means much less lost if one of them goes under.

If you just want to earn interest on the money you already have, then buy bonds and hold them to maturity. This provides you with interest during the lifetime of the bond and payment in face value of the bond when it matures. You won’t feel it if interest rates go up and bond values take a bit of dip. It will, however, keep you from investing the principal of the bond when interest rates are low.

If you’re looking to maximize your income, then consider using the “buy and hold” strategy with long-term bonds. Again, the changes in interest rates will not affect the bond overall, and a longer term means that there is more payout to you by the time the bond matures.

Risky types can invest in high-yield bonds offered by companies with lower credit ratings. They pay out more, but have a higher risk of no payment at all because of the company’s financial situation.

Planned Parenthood is well known for offering contraception and pregnancy options to women. However, they are less known for the other array of services provided in many of the clinics throughout the United States. The staff is trained in both men’s and women’s health care services, including infertility, menstruation problems, menopause, cancer screening and treatment, and other health problems. Patients can be tested for infertility and ovulation problems, and then can be treated for these common problems. There are counselors in the clinics who can help women who are newly diagnosed or have dealt with infertility for years, and help them to understand their options. Additionally, surgical procedures are available in some clinics to treat infertility and help women conceive. Many women suffer from problems during their menstrual cycles, and are not even aware that their symptoms are not normal. Physicians in Planned Parenthood clinics can help women to understand their cycles, what is normal and what is not, as well as treat common problems, such as unbearable pain, excessive bleeding, and irregularity.

All women will go through menopause at some point in their lives, and it can be a frightening and difficult experience. Having a counselor to discuss these feelings and emotions with, as well as obtain treatment for the symptoms associated with menopause can give women relief and help them to understand and even embrace the change that their bodies will undergo. Many clinics offer breast, cervical, testicular, and prostate cancer screenings and treatment. The best part is that many of these services are offered at a discounted rate to individuals who are not insured. Patients of any age or with any income can utilize the health care services offered at their neighborhood Planned Parenthood clinic, and begin to understand the necessary steps that must be taken in order to ensure sexual and reproductive health.

The clinics remain some of the few locations where women can have an elective abortion, and they also provide birth control and permanent sterilization procedures. In 1973 Roe v. Wade, a historic court case, overturned previous legislation about a woman’s right to abortion. Abortion was previously outlawed, but the judge on the case recognized that it was a woman’s constitutional right to have an abortion and keep this choice private. Three years later, Planned Parenthood helped to fight for a woman’s right to choose without spousal or parental consent to women over 16 years old. Planned Parenthood has continued to fight for this right throughout the years, and has won in several court cases to keep this right for women to choose.

Additionally, the clinics provide sexual education to people who may not be receiving it in school. Since the Bush administration, abstinence-only sex education is all that is provided in many high schools, which simply does not provide information to teenagers who currently are engaging in, or plan to engage in sexual activity. Without being taught about the risks and dangers of unprotected sex, the number of cases of sexually transmitted diseases and unwanted pregnancies will skyrocket. Teens simply must have access to this vital information. Planned Parenthood clinics offer contraception, counseling, and testing to patients of all ages, so for sexually active teens, a visit to a Planned Parenthood clinic is vital to obtain the necessary information and products to keep themselves and their partners safe, especially since they won’t be receiving it in school. Since the passing of the abstinence-only education bill, over 3 million patients visited Planned Parenthood clinics throughout America.

Planned Parenthood was created in 1916 to provide safe and healthy options for women’s reproductive health. The first clinic opened in Brooklyn, New York and since then has grown to include more than 850 clinics providing health care and birth control to more than three million people. Planned Parenthood offers contraception, screenings for cervical and breast cancer, testing for sexually transmitted diseases and infections, and prenatal care to women with or without health insurance. Many women who wouldn’t otherwise be able to receive this type of care are now able to, because of the discounted rates at which these services are offered. Planned Parenthood is funded partially by private donors as well as government assistance, which is how it is able to offer health care to low-income and uninsured women. Additionally, the clinics offer sex education to young women who may not receive the vital information elsewhere. Many schools are now teaching abstinence-only sex education, so teenage girls may not be aware of the risks and dangers of unprotected sex. Planned Parenthood provides information as well as methods to help these women avoid disease and unwanted pregnancy. Its affiliates also encourage counseling for pregnant women, to ensure that these women are aware of their options and to discuss with a professional how each choice could affect their physical, mental, and emotional health. Additionally, some clinics are now offering treatment for menopausal women, including hormone therapy and treatment of symptoms. They also provide emergency contraception, which can help to prevent pregnancy in rape situations, as well as birth control failure. Some also offer services for men, including testing, testicular cancer screenings, and permanent sterilization procedures. The clinics also adhere to a strict privacy policy, where allowed by law, ensuring complete confidentiality for patients to receive care or purchase contraception without the risk of ridicule or unwanted questions. Planned Parenthood is a great option for individuals who need help with sex and health-related issues, but are unsure of where they can turn.

Planned Parenthood clinics offer extensive information on contraception and sexually transmitted diseases and infections. When an individual visits a clinic to learn more about the contraception available, a staff member will discuss health history and health and sexual habits to make sure that the contraception offered is the best possible option and will not cause further complications. For example, if a woman smokes, oral contraceptive pills would not be the best option for her since this combination greatly increases the chance of blood clotting. It is crucial to be completely honest in all the questions asked; the staff is not asking to make the patient feel uncomfortable, but simply to protect the patient’s health. After this portion is complete, the staff member will go over each type of birth control available. Currently Planned Parenthood clinics offer birth control pills, patches, implants, vaginal rings, shots, and male and female condoms. With so many options, individuals might feel overwhelmed.

Visiting a Planned Parenthood clinic will help ease the mind, as the staff will go over each type of birth control, how exactly it should be used to ensure full effectiveness, and which option might be best for each situation. Once all information has been given, it is up to the patient to decide which option they would like to begin using. Planned Parenthood offers contraception to those who are insured and those who are not, and often will offer discounted products so that everyone is able to obtain birth control at a reasonable price. This helps to control the number of unwanted pregnancies as well as helping to keep men and women safe from sexually transmitted disease, so birth control is a vital part of sexual health.

Planned Parenthood clinics are not just for physical health. The staff members at many of these clinics are also trained to deal with emotional health, especially in regard to problems with body image. Since many women suffer with distorted body image, this is a growing problem, especially since it can trace back to sexual activity. Friends and family members play a key role in the development of body image, and often young people develop problems in childhood. Receiving messages about the way we look plays into the way we ultimately feel about ourselves, and if these messages are negative, body image is often distorted to see what we think others see, instead of the way we actually look. People also see unattainable bodies in the media every day; models, actors and actresses, and others with “perfect” bodies are just a few of what Americans are bombarded with daily. Seeing these airbrushed and surgically enhanced figures can give the impression that normal bodies are simply not good enough, and the decline in self-esteem simply continues to drop. Often women take drastic measures to try to obtain these bodies, including eating disorders and excessive exercise to the point that it becomes dangerous.

With this rapid decline in body image, Planned Parenthood clinics have taken a stand in educating patients about the dangers of poor self-image, and how to combat this growing problem. The clinics offer counseling where patients can discuss their problems with the way they look, and determine the root of the problem. From there, they are able to build their self-image through healthy activities, understanding qualities inherited through genetics, positive self-talk, and respecting and understanding the body and all that it is capable of doing. Having realistic expectations and simply reprogramming the mind to believe that the body is beautiful and healthy can help women to appreciate and value their bodies, instead of hurting their bodies through drastic measures.
