Advocacy
The Public Affairs (PA) department directs and coordinates the political and governmental advocacy of Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin. PA staff is located in four different offices throughout the state. Each office is responsible for a region of the state and oversees grassroots organizing and community outreach for advocacy within that region. The offices are staffed with advocacy Coordinators who are responsible for recruiting, training, utilizing and maintaining a volunteer advocacy base. They also perform community outreach to allied health providers, local policy makers and other community-based organizations to increase grassroots support for improved services and education.
The department also staffs the political arm of Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, which lobbies and engages in electoral activities. Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin is a separate organization contracted by PPW to provide advocacy support. The Advocates make get out the vote calls, distribute educational materials and organize around reproductive choice and family planning issues.

The legislative director is Amalia Vagts; 608/256-7549. Amalia monitors legislation, lobbies elected officials and government agencies while overseeing the grassroots activity that supports our lobbying efforts. In addition, PA utilizes the skills and energy of many volunteers and interns. They work on projects ranging from special event coordination to bulk mailings and administrative support.
